Product Description
A Wax Motor is a linear actuator and is mostly used to
replace a magnetic solenoid in an application, wherein, a short range of linear
movement is needed. Our wax motor has three main components:
- A block of wax
- A plunger that bears on the wax
- An electric heater, typically a PTC thermistor, that heats the wax
As the electric heater gets energized, it heats the wax
block and expands it, driving the plunger in an outward movement. When the
electric current is detached, the wax block cools & contracts and the
plunger is taken out. It happens when a spring force is applied externally or
when the spring is implemented directly onto the wax motor.
